Apply for a Community Concert

Great music belongs where people gather.

Community Concerts (ComCon) is a SoundCorps program that supports community-led live music experiences across Chattanooga. Supporting local musicians through fair pay and connections with audiences is part of SoundCorps' reason for existing. We know that local, community-led shows strengthen relationships, spark new connections, and bring people together in meaningful ways. The DIY concert spirit can strengthen these bonds even further!

The application is straightforward and encourages communities of any type, formal or informal, to participate. Selected communities will work with SoundCorps staff and/or volunteers to design a concert experience that reflects their unique identity, interests, and goals. SoundCorps will provide chosen applicants with artist compensation, basic production support, and local musicians that fit the concert goals (feel free to request a specific musician/band). Communities provide vision, leadership, outreach, hospitality, and the energy that makes each concert special. Together we can support and promote to the level and intensity that benefits and supports your Community Concert.

No previous event planning experience is required—just a community that wants to come together through live music.

Guidelines:

  1. Evaluation will be performed by a selection panel of local musicians. Evaluators will select based on A) Community leadership, buy-in, and support. B) Creativity, uniqueness, and viability of concept. C) Ability to connect community members with local musicians.

  2. Selections will be made on June 26, July 10, July 31, and August 21. Applications close at midnight on August 20, 2026.

  3. Musicians will be paid between $250 (minimum) and $2000 (maximum) per concert, based on musician experience & artistic/professional maturity, number of musicians, nature of event, length of performance, preparation required, community size, and any other factors which substantially increase or decrease the level of effort impacting respectful compensation. Best judgment will be used, budgets will be respected.

  4. ComCons must be scheduled and completed by October 31, 2026

  5. Selected communities will be expected to work collaboratively with SoundCorps and their musician(s)/band throughout the planning and implementation process.

  6. Ticketed Events: Ticketed events are welcome. Organizers agree to contribute 10–50% of gross ticket revenue to SoundCorps' Producer's Fund, with the exact percentage determined in partnership with SoundCorps. Contributions will not exceed SoundCorps' total financial investment in the event.

  7. SoundCorps reserves the right to modify program timelines, artist assignments, event details, or other program elements as reasonably necessary to successfully administer the entire program.
